 Scientificity and effectiveness of Exercise Treatment for Diabetic

Exercise for patients with diabetes must be scientific, and patients are encouraged to engage in moderate-intensity exercise and below. On the one hand, high-intensity exercise promotes the secretion of insulin-antagonizing hormones, leading to a further increase in blood sugar; on the other hand, it also promotes an increase in plasma lipid peroxide, putting the body in a state of oxidative stress and aggravating the damage to original organ function;

Moderate-intensity exercise and below can enable muscles to effectively utilize glucose and free fatty acids, which is beneficial to burning fat in the body. Mainly focus on aerobic exercise, which can be appropriately supplemented by resistance training, and the interval between exercises should not exceed 3 days. People with diabetes should engage in moderate-intensity aerobic exercise (40% to 70% of maximum heart rate) for at least 150 minutes per week. Patients with type 2 diabetes who have no contraindications are encouraged to perform resistance training three times a week.

Most diabetic patients have elevated blood sugar after meals, so exercise should be done within 1 to 3 hours after a meal. During exercise, attention should be paid to avoid hypoglycemia. If the dose of insulin or oral hypoglycemic drugs is not reduced before exercise, exercise It is necessary to pay attention to supplementing sugar (such as sugar water or sweet drinks, etc.). In principle, the best site for insulin injection is around the abdominal wall and umbilicus. Try to avoid moving muscle groups to avoid accelerating insulin absorption in this part and inducing hypoglycemia.

Exercise methods should be selected according to the patient's actual situation and preferences, emphasizing diversity and interest. Exercise programs should be adapted to the patient's age, condition, social, economic, cultural background and physique, and beneficial physical activities should be integrated into daily life. in order to help patients with diabetes start and maintain exercise therapy. Exercise training for diabetic patients should be sustained and maintained for life
